The Volkswagen I.D. is a zero-emission vehicle with a 170-hp electric engine and a driving range of 600 km.

The I.D. embodies Volkswagen’s new design developed especially for compact e-vehicles. The Open Space Concept has come to life for the first time in this car’s interior. The I.D. is shorter than the Volkswagen Golf, but it has an interior as spacious as the Passat. What’s more, the Volkswagen I.D. is the brand’s first concept car that got the fully-automated I.D. Pilot driving mode. It is activated by pressing the Volkswagen logo on the steering wheel, which makes it retract to provide a completely new feeling of space for the driver. 

A smartphone acts as a digital key instead of a regular key to open the doors and start the engine. Owners of Volkswagen cars will soon receive their Volkswagen IDs. These are unique accounts that save the seat and climate control settings, favorite radio stations and playlists, audio system settings, friends’ and business partners’ contacts, and the navigation system configuration. It can be accessed via the Volkswagen Automotive Cloud.
